Who runs this

Ready for UK is a trading name of James Canavan, a UK sole trader based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. There is no parent company, no investors, no offshore entity. James designs and writes the product, ships the code, and answers your email when you write in.

The business is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office under reference C1938335, which you can verify on the public ICO register at ico.org.uk.

Why it exists

The Life in the UK test is English-only. People who have lived here for years, hold down jobs, and speak English well enough to get on with their lives still fail because the exam tests a specific register of historical and civic English that has nothing to do with how anyone actually talks. The Home Office’s own handbook is the source material — dense and impersonal. The official Home Office practice app is English-only and gets 3.3 stars in the App Store.

The wedge is simple: keep the question in English (because the real exam is in English) but explain it in the language you think in. So we ship 480 questions in English, and 480 explanations in বাংলা, Türkçe, and اردو, reviewed for clarity in each language. Civic terms (“Westminster”, “House of Lords”, “Archbishop of Canterbury”) stay in English so the words you read here match the words on the exam.
