Refund Policy
Our refund window, our pass guarantee, your statutory rights under UK consumer law, and the waiver we ask you to confirm at checkout. Written so you can read it before you pay, not after.
Short version:we offer a 7-day refund from purchase, provided you haven’t started a mock exam — and a pass guarantee on top: do your prep and still fail the real test, and we’ll refund you. Email hello@readyforuk.co.uk from your account address.
1. Our refund window
We offer a refund within 7 days of purchase, provided you have not started a mock exam against the timer. Once you start a mock exam, you have used the core thing you paid for, and the refund window closes.
To request a refund within the window, email hello@readyforuk.co.uk from the email address on your account. Refunds are returned to your original payment method via Stripe within a few business days. We may ask one or two clarifying questions but we’re not here to argue you out of a refund you’ve asked for.
2. The pass guarantee
Complete your preparation with us and still fail the official Life in the UK test? We’ll refund your £9.99.
“Complete your preparation” means one light condition we can see on your account: you completed at least two full mock exams before your test date. That’s the whole condition — we’re not looking for reasons to say no.
To claim, email hello@readyforuk.co.uk from your account address and tell us you sat the real test and didn’t pass. We take your word for it — no certificate needed — and refund the £9.99 to your original payment method.
This stacks on the 7-day refund above: the 7-day refund is for “this wasn’t for me”; the pass guarantee is for “I did the work and it didn’t land.” Either way, we’d rather pay the rare claim than keep money from someone we didn’t help over the line.
3. Your UK statutory right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers buying online generally have 14 days from purchase to cancel a distance contract and receive a full refund, without giving a reason.
This default 14-day right has a specific exception for digital content (like ours) where two conditions are both met:
- You give your express consent for the digital content to be made available to you immediately (i.e. before the 14-day cancellation period ends), and
- You acknowledge that by doing so, you lose the 14-day right to cancel.
4. The waiver we ask for at checkout
At Stripe Checkout, we ask you to tick a box confirming the following statement before payment is taken:
“I want my Ready for UK access to start immediately, and I understand that this means I waive my 14-day cancellation right under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The 7-day refund policy (refund if you haven’t started a mock exam) still applies.”
Ticking that box satisfies both conditions in Section 3 above. Once you do, the statutory 14-day right is waived — but our own 7-day refund window (Section 1) still stands, regardless. In effect, our refund offer is more generous than what the law requires for waived digital content.
If you don’t want to waive the 14-day right, don’t tick the box. You can choose not to buy, and we’ll be entirely fine.
5. What we can’t refund
Outside the 7-day window (Section 1) and the pass guarantee (Section 2), we don’t refund the £9.99 once you’ve started a mock exam. The mock exam is the core product; once you’ve used it, the one-time-only payment has been used as intended.
We don’t certify exam outcomes or offer pass-based refunds beyond the pass guarantee in Section 2 — that one offer is the extent of it. We sell practice software, not a test result.
6. If we’ve made a mistake
If we charged you in error (e.g. a duplicate payment, a billing system bug), we’ll refund regardless of the 7-day window. Email us with the details and we’ll sort it.
7. Disputes
If you’re unhappy with our handling of a refund request, you can:
- Contact us first via hello@readyforuk.co.uk. Most things get resolved here.
- Raise a chargeback through your card issuer if you believe the charge was unauthorised or the service was not as described.
- Refer the matter to the UK’s consumer dispute resolution framework if it cannot be resolved directly. UK consumer protection law applies because we operate from Belfast and contract under the laws of England and Wales — see the Terms of Service.
