Terms of Service
The plain-English rules under which Ready for UK provides practice for the Life in the UK citizenship test. We’ve tried to keep this short and honest.
1. Who we are
Ready for UK is an independent practice tool for the UK Home Office’s Life in the UK test. We are not affiliated with the Home Office, the UK government, or any awarding body. Ready for UK is a trading name of James Canavan, a UK sole trader operating from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office under reference C1938335. Contact: hello@readyforuk.co.uk.
2. What you get
A web-based practice platform with a question bank modelled on the official handbook, mock exams that mirror the real test format, and explanations in English plus three native-language tracks (Bengali, Turkish, Urdu). Free users get a small number of questions to evaluate the product. Paid users get the full bank for life on their account.
We do not guarantee that our content will be identical to any specific exam paper, or that practising here will result in a pass. We do guarantee that we keep our content aligned with the current published syllabus to the best of our ability.
3. Pricing
The full unlock is £9.99 once. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no upsell tier. The unlock is tied to your account email and lasts for the lifetime of the account.
Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The price displayed at checkout is the price you pay, inclusive of UK VAT where applicable.
4. Refunds
We offer a 7-day refund window after purchase, provided you have not started a mock exam against the timer. At checkout we ask you to confirm your access begins immediately and that you waive the 14-day cancellation right under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — our 7-day policy stands regardless. Full details, including the exact waiver wording and how to request a refund, are on the Refund Policy page.
5. Your account
You sign in via passwordless email link. You’re responsible for keeping your inbox secure and not sharing the magic link. Don’t share your account with family or colleagues — each person preparing for the test should have their own £9.99 unlock so their progress and exam history stay separate.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being shared, are being used to scrape our content, or are otherwise breaching these terms. If we do, we’ll refund a prorated amount where appropriate, but lifetime access doesn’t have a clean prorating model — we’ll be fair.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t scrape, redistribute, or republish our question bank or explanations. Don’t use the product to harass anyone, break the law, or attempt to exploit the system (e.g. abusing the free question allowance via repeated signups). Don’t reverse-engineer protected parts of the service.
7. Content quality
Our questions and explanations are written from the official handbook and reviewed for clarity. Native-language explanations go through an automated review pass for accuracy in addition to the source-fidelity checks on the English original. We work hard to keep civic terms (e.g. Westminster, House of Lords, Archbishop of Canterbury) in English so the wording matches the real exam.
We’re a small team. If you spot an error, please tell us at hello@readyforuk.co.uk.
8. Service availability
We aim for high availability but don’t guarantee specific uptime. We may take the service down for maintenance with reasonable notice. If a long-running outage prevents you from accessing what you paid for, contact us and we’ll make it right.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our total liability under these terms is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — which for most users is £9.99.
We are not liable for any decision made by the Home Office or other authority on the basis of your test result. We sell practice software; we don’t certify exam outcomes.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the “last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, notify users by email before they take effect.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that can’t be resolved by email will be heard in the courts of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer in another EEA country, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection law of your home country.
